Presentation of ULTRA ROCKS
Become part of the myths of Bucovina
Starting just before midnight, right from the heart of Bucovina – Câmpulung Moldovenesc – Ultra Rocks is the crown jewel of the Bucovina Ultra Rocks experience. After a short loop through the sleeping streets of the city, you’ll step into the raw beauty of the wilderness. Bathed in moonlight, the legendary Pietrele Doamnei will guide your steps toward the mystical Cheile Moara Dracului nature reserve.
You’ll get closer to the untouched Slătioara Forest – a UNESCO World Heritage candidate – where centuries-old trees, 300 to 400 years in age, stand tall as living testaments to time.
At dawn, the second climb to Rarău reveals the whole grandeur of the route: the camel-backed silhouette of Pietrosu Bistriței, the mighty Giumalău peak, and the vastness of the Northern Carpathians.
A long descent follows, alongside a cold mountain stream into Zugreni. But the real test is yet to come. Pietrosu Bistriței stands ahead, ready to challenge every muscle and every thought.
After a well-earned break at the drop bag checkpoint in Rusca, a double ascent to Giumalău awaits you – first through Valea Putnei and then again, as you make your way toward the legendary Transrarău road and the checkpoint with Live Cooking.
What follows is pure Romania – rustic, wild, unforgettable – right up to the final challenge. RUNC awaits. The climb is brutal, but once conquered, it's engraved into your soul.
You are an Ultra Rocks finisher. And that... is wild.

Mandatory Equipment
We know you’re tough! We know you’ve trained in every condition imaginable. But out here, the mountains play by their own rules and they don’t care how many intervals you crushed. That’s why the mandatory equipment list isn’t a “maybe,” it’s your lifeline.
Pack it. Check it. Double-check it. Because a headlamp left at home doesn’t make you a rebel. It just makes you the person who can’t see the trail at 3 a.m. And nobody wants that.
Respect the list. Respect the mountain. Respect yourself.
